About Us

The 'Friends' group is a registered charity and was officially set up in December 1999 in order to protect the wildlife of the Nature Reserve and the maintenance of vital habitats. The Friends also support the work of Canterbury Environmental Education Centre.
Over the years many 'Friends' have helped the Reserve in lots of different ways. We carry out regular volunteer days where our members participate in practical conservation tasks. We will be running regular evening talks and social events. See below for the full range of benefits of becoming a Friend.
