Canterbury’s Hidden Gem is now open to the public!

When can I visit?
Opening dates: Sunday 6th April 2008 - Sunday 26th October 2008
(re-opening April 5th 2009). Open every Sunday and Bank Holiday 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm). During School holidays we are also open Monday- Friday 10am-4pm (last entry 3pm).

Charges: £2 per person, Under 5s and members free. Canterbury Resident's Card offer: 1 Child under 16 free with each paying adult with a resident's card.

What is there to do?
  • Follow the lakeside Kingfisher Trail through beautiful natural habitats.
  • Try your hand at pond dipping and find out what lives in our lake.
  • Visit our NEW ‘Friends of CEEC' bird-hide on Teddy Bears' Island and see if you can spot a heron!
  • Play hide and seek in Canterbury Woods and explore the Roundhouse.
  • Enjoy a picnic by the lake or a cup of fair-trade tea and an organic snack in our Visitor Centre.
  • Relax in our Sensory Garden.
  • Meet the world famous Sebastian Swan! (www.sebastianswan.org.uk)

    Allow at least 1-2 hours for your visit, including a stop at our Visitor Centre for refreshments, information and souvenirs.

    NEW for 2008!:
  • Younger visitors can now have even more fun at CEEC with our new sticker trail and hedgehog trail activities - ask at the Visitor Centre on arrival to find out more!
  • WILD ACTIVITIES: 10.30am-12.00pm 1st Sunday of each month, 4th May- 5th October 2008. A free fun activity led by CEEC staff, which may be a guided walk, pond dipping session and bingo game, minibeast hunt, practical conservation task or environmental art. Phone 01227 452447 for more details.


How do I get there?

On site parking is free, although we do encorage use of public transport. The nearest train station is Canterbury West and the nearest bus stop is at Farleigh Road/Broad Oak Rd on buses 24 or 21 from Canterbury bus station. Alternatively we are only a 20 minute walk from the city centre!
