	New Woodland This area has been allowed to go through the natural change from waste land to woodland. This is sometimes called succession. Young oaks, rowan, silver birch, field maple, and hawthorn grow together with a wide range of plants which like the poor soil. The marshy area below also provides a good habitat for the southern marsh orchid and the bee orchid.
