From this point high on the hill we can look down on the 400kv site, this switching station is one of the major distributors of electricity to south-east England. This is part of the National Grid. The large clearing below is kept free of hawthorn scrub and the nutrient poor soil provides a suitable habitat for many different flowering plants.
Flowering Plants

The flowers on this bank grow well because the hawthorn and scrub vegetation is cleared. You can see flowers such as centaury, goats beard, wild carrot, ox-eye daisy, marsh orchid, bee orchid and pyramidal orchid.
